Bertram Bros. Construction of Barrie and Dominic Amato – Architect – of Woodbridge were retained as a joint team by the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of Toronto to design and build St.Paul the Apostle's Parish Centre in Alliston. Construction started mid – September 1991 and occupancy was obtained April 15,1992. This was not the first joint project between Bertram Bros. and the architect. A previous example was St.John Vieney Catholic Church in Barrie

The agreement was a – cost plus to upset a price of 1.6 million dollars. When the project was completed, the balance showed that this centre was built for $50,000 under the stated budget. Bothe the architect and the builder obtained several quotes on each major item to, through competitive bidding, obtain the best price for quality service. The architect, Dominic Amato, intially established a excellent rapport with the Corporation of New Tecumseth, our municipality. Many phases of appropriate approvals were expedited in record time. This was true as well, of the Ministry of the Enviroment. During the planning stages and the actual construction, this team was most flexivle in allowing minor alterations and recommending updates to an improved project. Cost was always outlined to the building committee.

During the construction, it was obvious that the sub – tradestook a pride in, not only their work, but in the total end result of this project. The parishioners and the building committee were extremely pleased with the finished product. Many visitors to this parish centre have been ecstatic about the design, the quality of the workmanship and the timeline in which this construction was carried out.

As the Chairman of the construction committee and a member of the executive building committee, I visited the site several times each week to ensure that the construction met our expectations. As I mentioned earlier, we discussed and made minor changes, but iw was not necessary at any time to call to the Superintendent's attention any defaults or shortcuts. I commend Bertram Bros. and the architect, Dominic for a very high standard building completed well below budget and in record time. I would, therefore, recommend them highly as a jonit team for your project. I wish them the very best.
